While still attending high school, Allie enrolled in non-credit dental tech courses at Triton college as an extracurricular activity.
Dental technology became a hobby and having invested time already learning dental technology, it was obvious to continue an accredited education at So. IL University in Carbondale and make dental technology her career after high school graduation.
After graduating from SIU-C College of Technical Careers with an Associate’s degree in Dental Technology, RG status with the National Board of Certification in Dental Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Advanced Technical Studies, Allie immediately starting working behind the bench and building her career.
Within a few short years, Allie attained CDT status and was in a leadership role in the denture department. The experience strengthened her skills and opened opportunities to gain further knowledge from some very talented and respected mentors in the dental technology profession.
The passion for her career motivated her to eventually own her own lab. The success of this lab was not attributed solely to education and passion. Allie is fortunate to have found a soulmate with the same career and passion. Her husband, Mark Williamson, CDT has been her mentor and rock since the early years of her career and still has an immense influence on her continued development as a certified dental technician and technologist (CDT-TE).
Today, Allie is the Technical Education Specialist at The Ottawa Dental Laboratory in Ottawa, IL. Her career of 36+ years has given her the experience and knowledge to pass along to the next generation of dental technicians; that they may take what we teach to an entirely new level and ignite their own passion for the profession.
Alexandra (Allie) Williamson, AAS, BS, CDT-E has been a guest on 1 episode.
