Chris has spent over 30 years working at the dental bench and still hasn’t quite figured out how to escape it.

He’s the owner of XS Dental Laboratory, a small, fiercely independent UK dental lab specialising in thermoformed appliances, and XSGuard, his custom sports mouthguard brand.

A firm believer that bigger doesn’t necessarily mean better, Chris is passionate about keeping traditional technical skills alive while embracing the benefits of digital dentistry.

He’s an outspoken supporter of UK dental technology, independent laboratories and the technicians who actually make the appliances. He’s also not particularly shy about questioning industry practices, challenging the status quo or calling out the occasional bit of corporate nonsense.

Influenced as much by sports, music and alternative culture as the dental industry, Chris has never been particularly interested in following the crowd.

After three decades in the profession, he’s still learning, still questioning and still getting his hands dirty at the bench.

His philosophy?

You don’t have to build an empire to build a good business.

And being a master of something doesn’t mean you ever stop being a student.
