It's the 11th running of the Race For the Future in Fort Worth, TX on September 14, 2025. This is YOUR chance to make a difference in a industry we all love so much. Important links:

Select: Race for the Future
Enter the name of the racer you want to support: BARB WARNER or THE CROWN JEWELS

A HUGE thanks to Jensen Dental for allowing Elvis to go to one of the greatest regional shows left, the https://www.fdla.net/ Southern States Symposium & Expo.

First up we meet two "newish" technicians in our industry. From Alaska to Florida, Savannah Jones taught herself exocad and is now doing removable work at DCS Dental Lab. Gabriel Jimenez was working at Walmart when he found a dental office that had an in-office lab and it wasn't long before he too found himself at DCS Dental Lab. They talk about their journey, learning new things, and what they think of their first dental show.

Then a blast from WAY back comes on to update us on all things Tom Zaleske. Tom was on episode 16 (if you can believe it)! He talks about his journey to become a one person removable technician working out of his house, getting into speaking and what he speaks on, and some thoughts on the future of dental labs.

Then we wrap up the episode with another past podcast guest, Josh Williams. Josh is at GPS Digital RPD where they are killing it at printing metal frameworks. He talks about their growth, the process of fabrication, and how easy it is to get them a case.

What do you call a group of technicians in Texas? The first successful lab meeting of the year! That's right, back in late March the Dental Laboratory Association of Texas (DLAT) held their annual conference. It was also the first in-person dental lab meeting of 2021. While we couldn't be there, our good friends at Argen set up a laptop, microphone, and some speakers so we could record remotely from their booth. Local Argen rep and all around rockstar Keith Wilson kept us busy bringing by so many great people at the show. This week we have conversations from 5 wonderful attendees/staff/vendors.

Sit back and enjoy the sounds of live "in-person" conversations.

Few things create more interest today than the Digital Denture. Whip Mix has developed a processing system for printed dentures, which uses Dentca, the first 3D-printed denture and denture teeth resins to receive FDA clearance. Their physical properties and biocompatibility pass FDA requirements and enable the printed denture properties to be very similar to conventional dentures. The material, coupled with fast and easy 3D-printing with Asiga printers and the convenience of curing with a Uvitron UV light, results in fewer dentist visits, predictable fit, re-printable data files, lower costs and excellent intraoral denture performance.

June is CDT and Dental Technician Appreciation Month. There is no better way to celebrate than talking to a couple of people who have volunteered their time to help promote, educate, and strengthen our industry.

First up is Dennis Urban CDT from Dental Services Group who is also the Chairperson on the National Board of Certification (NBC). Dennis talks about getting his CDT, finding the motivation to get on the board to promote it, and what the NBC is doing to make sure technicians still have the opportunity to get certified during these difficult times.

Then we talk to Sean Siegel from Castable Ceramics (also the Chairperson of the Foundation of Dental Laboratory Technology) and Shawn Nowak from Nowak Dental Supplies (also the Fiscal Officer of the Foundation). They give us an update on the Foundation, all the grants and scholarships that are available, and how the Foundation plans on being stronger than ever once we get back to normal.

Whip Mix has developed VeriSplint OS, a popular 3D printed resin that is rigid, durable and affordable. This popular resin was the first 510K accepted splint material that is transparent, biocompatible and polishes to a high, clear shine.

All of this, and a low cost, averaging between $5.00 - $6.00 per splint.

If you’d like more information about VeriSplint OS, visit Whip Mix’s website at whipmix.com or call the 800-626-5651.

Special Guests: Dennis Urban CDT, Sean Siegel, and Shawn Nowak.

Elvis and Barb take a break from interviewing to record today’s episode showcasing interviews we did back at LMT Lab Day Chicago.
First up we talk with Morris Fucarino CDT from Majestic Arts in Florida. He is the current Chair of the National Board of Certification (NBC).

We are then joined by Travis Zick from Apex Dental in Minnesota who is the President of the National Association of Dental Laboratories (NADL) and Sean Siegel from Castable Ceramics in Alaska who is the Vice-Chair of the Foundation of Dental Laboratory Technology (FDLT).

NADL - Nation Association of Dental Laboratories
