It's the 11th running of the Race For the Future in Fort Worth, TX on September 14, 2025. This is YOUR chance to make a difference in a industry we all love so much. Important links:

A HUGE thanks to Jensen Dental for allowing Elvis to go to one of the greatest regional shows left, the https://www.fdla.net/ Southern States Symposium & Expo.

First up we meet two "newish" technicians in our industry. From Alaska to Florida, Savannah Jones taught herself exocad and is now doing removable work at DCS Dental Lab. Gabriel Jimenez was working at Walmart when he found a dental office that had an in-office lab and it wasn't long before he too found himself at DCS Dental Lab. They talk about their journey, learning new things, and what they think of their first dental show.

Then a blast from WAY back comes on to update us on all things Tom Zaleske. Tom was on episode 16 (if you can believe it)! He talks about his journey to become a one person removable technician working out of his house, getting into speaking and what he speaks on, and some thoughts on the future of dental labs.

Then we wrap up the episode with another past podcast guest, Josh Williams. Josh is at GPS Digital RPD where they are killing it at printing metal frameworks. He talks about their growth, the process of fabrication, and how easy it is to get them a case.

Looking for a way to unlock the full potential of your digital dentistry workflow. Take it from Elise Heathcote, associate manager of digital services with Ivoclar. <itunes:subtitle>Tim Bertram from Bertram Dental Lab comes on the podcast to talk about taking over a family lab that has specialized in metal frames from the '70s. Currently Tim and his crew are printing SLM frames directly from a lab's design along with flexibles and surgical guides along with a traditional workflow. They now grow to support more labs for this much needed service in our industry.</itunes:subtitle>

One of the most common restorations for labs to "outsource" is metal frameworks and flexible partials. The training, personal, and equipment is a huge hurdle to overcome and Bertram Dental Lab can be your partner. All made in the US and decades of experience.

Growing up in a lab that almost 100% made metal frames for other labs, Tim Bertram started at an early age. Now he owns Bertram Dental Lab that still makes metal frames for other labs, but now does it with an impressive digital workflow. He talks about printing SLM frames, milling flexibles, and printing surgical guides. With a move to a new facility, Bertram is setting up to be partner for you lab for a long time.

The UP 3D P5 milling maching from Aurident is a 5 axis, efficient, dry mill. Great for milling zirconia, PMMA and wax. It boasts software that produces high precision and fast milling. It can mill a crown in 14 minutes and the tool life yields about 60-80 hours of quality restorations. A game changer for labs of all sizes, big and small. For under $20K, a small lab can now do their own milling instead of outsourcing and reducing their profits. Quite impressive! Give Aurident a call at 800-422-7373 or you can visit their website at aurident.com.

Whip Mix is pleased to add VeriCast OS, a burnout pattern print resin, to Whip Mix’s growing Veri Brand Resin offering. VeriCast OS works with LCD and DLP printers in both 385 and 405 nanometer wavelengths.

It prints accurate and detailed crowns, bridges, substructures, and RPD frameworks, is durable, and leaves no ash or residue.

Since it burns out cleanly, VeriCast OS is ideal for investment casting and ceramic pressing. For optimal results, we recommend Whip Mix ResinVest, which is a phosphate investment made specifically for burning out printed or milled resin patterns.
