A HUGE thanks to Jensen Dental (https://jensendental.com/) for allowing Elvis to go to one of the greatest regional shows left, the https://www.fdla.net/ Southern States Symposium &amp;amp; Expo.
First up we meet two "newish" technicians in our industry. From Alaska to Florida, Savannah Jones taught herself exocad and is now doing removable work at DCS Dental Lab (https://dcslab.com/). Gabriel Jimenez was working at Walmart when he found a dental office that had an in-office lab and it wasn't long before he too found himself at DCS Dental Lab. They talk about their journey, learning new things, and what they think of their first dental show.
Then a blast from WAY back comes on to update us on all things Tom Zaleske. Tom was on episode 16 (if you can believe it)! He talks about his journey to become a one person removable technician working out of his house, getting into speaking and what he speaks on, and some thoughts on the future of dental labs.
Then we wrap up the episode with another past podcast guest, Josh Williams. Josh is at GPS Digital RPD (https://gpsdigitalrpd.com/) where they are killing it at printing metal frameworks. He talks about their growth, the process of fabrication, and how easy it is to get them a case.

<description>Elvis and Barb are back (once again) with more amazing conversations that they got at the exocad (https://exocad.com/) booth during the 4 days at IDS 2025 in Cologne, Germany (https://www.english.ids-cologne.de/). First up is two gentlemen out of Columbia that their lab 70 years ago decided that it was easier if they just started manufacturing their own materials. Juan David Jaramillo and Luis Diego Monsalve talk about the history of New Stetic (https://www.newstetic.com/en/), the regulation of getting it into 65 different countries, the world of making dental anesthesia, and how they use IDS as a way to connect with customers from around the world.
Then we bring back the wonderful Steve Campbell from Nexus Dental Laboratory (https://nexus.dental/)in the UK. Steve is at IDS speaking for exocad and the new exocad ART (https://exocad.com/our-products/exocad-art). He talks about how with exocad, AI, and a video of a patient talking, we can create a video of the patient talking with their new teeth that haven't even been made yet. Steve also updates on Nexus since the last recording and the importance of encouraging your technicians to do better then you.
Lastly we talk to Dr. Nicolas Rohde from VHF Milling Machines (https://www.vhf.com/en-us/). Dr. Rohde started with a business degree and a PhD in Organizational Practices. While in Maryland during school, he meets his wife and takes a job with a implant company and that's how he into dental. That company was a reseller for VHF mills and that is how he found them Dr. Rohde talks about moving back to Germany to run the US division, what sets their mills apart from others, and why they take the time to have their own CAM software to run their mills.
Take it from Jennifer Ferguson from Ivoclar. If you have a PM7 (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us/products/digital-equipment/programill-pm7) or are thinking about getting a PM7 (Take it from Barb, you should), on July 1st Ivoclar is launching the "Ivoclar Block Module" that can speed up milling emax (https://www.ivoclar.com/en_us/products/digital-processes/ips-e.max-cad) by 45%!! <description>When you can't be somewhere, the next best thing is to talk to the people who could. That is what Elvis and Barb did in early October. Argen (https://argen.com/#/) partnered up with VFTB to set up a computer and a microphone at the DLAT (Dental Laboratory Association of Texas) (https://members.dlat.org/membership/) conference and talk to many of the attendees. This week wraps up all of the fantastic conversations from wonderful people who were brave enough to attend the first in-person meeting since the beginning of the pandemic.
First up is Jason Stubbs, who is amazing at getting the word out on social media about all the amazing things the DLAT is doing and also speaking at the event about using Texas Dental Lab law to get new clients. Then sitting down is a one-woman lab owner, Bianka Nathery, who talks about the pros and cons of working by yourself and learning the craft in Germany where she grew up. Then we wrap up the whole conference with Mel Thorp, who 50 years ago was in a horrible accident that led him on a career where he earned 3 CDTs and still enjoys working on the bench. Great fun from the "DEE-LAT"!
The UP 3D P5 milling maching (https://www.aurident.com/p5/) from Aurident (https://www.aurident.com/)is a 5 axis, efficient, dry mill. Great for milling zirconia, PMMA and wax. It boasts software that produces high precision and fast milling. It can mill a crown in 14 minutes and the tool life yields about 60-80 hours of quality restorations. A game changer for labs of all sizes, big and small. For under $20K, a small lab can now do their own milling instead of outsourcing and reducing their profits. Quite impressive! Give Aurident a call at 800-422-7373 or you can visit their website at aurident.com.
Using 3D printed Dentca Temporary Resin is the easy, fast, clean and accurate way of creating natural-looking temporary restorations using Dentca Temporary C&amp;amp;B 3D Print Resin (https://whipmix.com/products/dentca-temporary-crown-bridge-resin/) from Whip Mix (https://whipmix.com/).
The new temporary material is FDA cleared, biocompatible, photocurable, and can be printed fast. That patient can be temporized with the highest quality temporary crowns that last a minimum of one full year in the mouth. Dentca C&amp;amp;B Temporary features excellent life-like esthetics and shade-matching capability with Vita shades A1, A2, A3, A3.5, B1, B2, and BL (Bleach).
Dentca Temporary C&amp;amp;B resin is validated for use with the Asiga Max (https://whipmix.com/products/asiga-max/), Asiga Pro 2, Asiga Pro 4K (https://whipmix.com/products/asiga-pro-4k/), and the Whip Mix Veribuild printers (https://whipmix.com/products/veribuild-lcd/), and with the following curing units: Uvitron (SunRay 400 (https://whipmix.com/products/uvitron-uv-sunray-400-curing-unit/) and IntelliRay 600 (https://whipmix.com/products/uvitron-uv-curing-unit/)), and the CUREbox Plus (https://whipmix.com/products/curebox-plus/).

He talks about the differences, what to do when one of them shows up, and what it takes to be prepared. It's a good and important conversation to hear.
